One of South Louisiana’s leading otolaryngologists and head and neck surgeons, Nicholas Sorrel, MD, cares for both children and adults. Dr. Sorrel treats patients at Southern ENT Associates located in New Iberia and Youngsville.
As a native of New Iberia, Dr. Sorrel stayed in Louisiana for college. He earned his undergraduate degree in biological sciences from Louisiana State University (LSU) at Baton Rouge, then completed his medical degree at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans.
During his residency in otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery at the University of Texas at Houston, Dr. Sorrel trained at the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center. He also spent extensive time researching the treatment of chronic sinusitis and received a grant from the American Rhinologic Society for his research.
Dr. Sorrel spent months researching and writing about minimally-invasive skull base surgery, as well as alternative medicine in otolaryngology and sinus disease. He has special interests in comprehensive medical and surgical management of sinus disease, thyroid and parathyroid gland surgery, and pediatric otolaryngology.
With his extensive background in otolaryngology, Dr. Sorrel treats swallowing disorders, head and neck cancer, disorders of the voice and larynx, and neck masses, and other conditions. He also helps patients resolve issues with snoring and sleep disorders.
When Dr. Sorrel is away from the office, he spends time with his wife, April Danielle Sorrel, MD, whom he met during his residency training. He is the co-owner and head coach of Momentum Fitness in Thibodaux and stays active in the world of wellness and fitness, teaching at health seminars around the country.
