Allergy

Sheila Aucoin joined Southern ENT November 2018 with much knowledge and experience in allergy. Prior to joining us, she was the Allergy Director for a large practice in Lafayette for almost 20 years. She has been instrumental in developing our Allergy Laboratory and strives to maintain compliance and outstanding results.  Her standards of excellence have translated into the achieving a PERFECT SCORE on her inspections.  Sheila is an expert in testing for allergies by both blood and skin.  She crafts a personalized mix for each patient that we treat and takes pride in making sure each of our patients has a positive experience with all phases of our program.  Sheila is passionate about Allergy, having previously trained LSU Residents, many of whom now practice all over the country.  She has also spoken at numerous training seminars and believes in providing knowledge of how allergy therapy enhances our everyday lives.

Sheila attended Pensacola Junior College and holds a state license for Allergy Laboratory and is tested each year with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.  She is an Allied Health Member of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, having attended both basic and advanced courses.  She has also attended courses with Pan American Allergy Society, Commonwealth Medical Lab, COLA Symposium for Clinical Labs.  She is expertly trained in operating the Hytec 288 Plus EIA System, and maintains compliance with courses in Bloodborne Pathogens, OSHA and CPR.

Outside of the office, Sheila and her husband Dennis enjoy cruises.  She is the mother of four grown daughters, all of whom work in the medical field, and has eight grandchildren.  She is a Eucharistic Minister at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette, Louisiana.  Sheila supports local animal shelters, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Faith House.

Dodi joined Southern ENT in August of 2014. A graduate of Thibodaux High in 1982, Dodi has worked in the Medical field since 1983. She has a well-rounded knowledge of the medical field. Prior to joining our team, Dodi worked in General Practice, General Surgery, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Medicine and is certified in Phlebotomy and EKG. Her work for Southern ENT began as a Medical Assistant for Dr. Jacques Gaudet and Dr. Nicholas Sorrel. She later followed Dr. Sorrel to establish our New Iberia and Youngsville clinics, where she trained under the expertise of our Allergy Director, Sheila Aucoin. She moved back to Thibodaux in 2019 to expand our allergy practices in Thibodaux and Morgan City. Dodi is a valuable part of our team and is knowledgeable in almost every aspect of our practice. Outside of work, Dodi loves to be around people, family, and friends. She loves anything outdoors.
